Flickr iPhone App!

Special thanks to Yahoo! for inviting to the launch of Flickr‘s new app on the iOS.

For those who don’t know about Flickr, it is a photo sharing website that is usually used among the photographers.

I used to use Flickr during my schooling days when I was a student photographer but somehow, it tends to get tedious and difficult to upload/edit photos on Flickr because of the amount of photos I have and the amount of details to key in. So when I knew about Flickr’s iPhone app, I was pretty excited. Can’t wait for the android version to come out!

Basically, Flickr app is pretty easy to use, just like any other social media app you have on your phone. The interface is very much similar to a fusion of instagram and tumblr, with even more useful functions. You know what they say about social media? We share. Flickr app provides the ability to share to your twitter/facebook account too.

Have I mentioned that Flickr app is similar to instagram? Here’s why: Take a photo with your camera phone and choose your filter! Upload and wala~ you’re done! :D

Flickr_screengrab_chinese1The reason why instagram is so user-friendly is because of its minimal functions but the reason why Flickr app is appealing is because of the amount of functions provided for you to edit a photo within just one app.

Of course, you can also share videos online too. Oh, and for those who prefers to have their photography privacy, you can always set your privacy settings to “Friends/Family only” or the default settings would be “public”.

Flickr_screengrab2Some of the professional photographers raised the problem of copyrights on their photos on Flickr during the launch. Of course these photographers would love to share their portfolio to as many people as possible but the thing about technology is anyone could grab your photos online and claim it as theirs (if no watermark is on it).

I can’t help but to think that this new app is now better off to the more amateur photographers or to those who prefers to just share their phones taken by camera phone. For copyright issues, well… I would say to spend more time on editing the watermarks on your photos before uploading. But that being said, it is better to use the web version of Flickr than the app since the app is being created for convenience and time-saving uploads.
