Growing up in 90s
Backlogged 21st birthday post!
I know it has been more than a month and I didn’t really blog about it except talking about it on twitter (@lovelivfe). I just want to say thank you for everyone who matters and bothers to celebrate for me, my family and friends, I love all of you! *hugsssss*

16th July 2011 – Dears <3
My lovely cousins <3! I think I can never live without them in my life. We are family but hang out like friends and the weird thing is we are so awfully different yet this connection brings us stronger bonds than any other.
Thank you dears for the KISEKI treat and crumpler laptop bag! <3<3<3
21st July 2011 – Ding Tai Fung treat from Dad!
I can’t explain why I love Xiao Long Bao, but I can tell you why I love my birthday month because I get to eat a lot of good food with my loved ones! Despite I have to face the fact that I am turning super fat after all these feasts. Hahahaha.
Dad was complaining that I take too many photos while we are eating. Paiseh. Syndrome of blogger.
23rd July 2011 – Hair For Hope
Thank you Weeteng for accompanying me to this event. So proud of you too for shaving too! If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t dare to go on the stage alone. Hahaha.
Thank you darling for coming with me, even though I know you didn’t like the idea of me being botak. My hair will grow back soon!
23rd July 2011 - Celebrations with PSP
Met up with my poly CCA club committee for a good dinner after Hair For Hope!
We have been friends since 3 to 4 years ago! How fast time pass eh? Thank you all of you for the surprise birthday cake on the rooftop and the awesome company. You guys have been, by far, the most awesome people I ever know. Thank you girls, for all these while as such great friends! I love you all!!!!!
Thank you darling for the iPod Touch that you bought me MONTHS ago. Muacks! <3
and all awesome friends who wished me Happy Birthday (online/sms/in person) and my 10-year-long friend, Sally who treated me Sakae Sushi Buffet, it’s great to have all of you in my life. ^^

February Meet Up!
Usually on every first day of Chinese New Year (CNY), dears and I would meet up on that particular day for movie and snacks after going to relatives’ houses to ban nian. Sadly, I was pretty much concussed for the whole CNY holidays and did not get to go out while dear also fell sick after drinking my cup of water on the eve. Lols.
So we postponed our meet up to last Saturday!
Went to Paradise Dynasty at ION Orchard, which I initially thought it was TASTE (at the same level as the former in ION and is also under the same enterprise). Nevertheless, the food is as good as TASTE dim sum BUT more filling. It’s no wonder why there’s such a long queue outside the restaurant.
We waited for quite a while and as usual, camwhoring session is always our core activity! Haha.
Not a big fan of this, maybe it is because of the strong alcohol bitterness plus it is also a cold dish. Though I would give credits to its tenderness, I am probably not going to order this again if I were to eat there again.
Dears love this dish and I think it was one of its kind. It has a mild sweet taste which I would prefer to eat this dish before gulping the other delicious dishes which have stronger taste in terms of saltiness.
As I mentioned before, I am a savory person and I love these buns! For those who did not eat this 生煎包 before, it is a larger version of Xiao Long Bao (XLB) that has a crispy crust bottom. It is basically pork buns being pan fried.
SPICY SPICY SPICY! With a twist of sourness and delicious noodles.
By the way, the ramen bowls and servings of each La Mian are so big that you can share among 2 to 3 person for one bowl.
The soup is so awesome that we can’t help but to drink more! Despite knowing that the whiter the soup is, the more fats and essences of the pork bones it has, I still can’t help it. Heck man! Who cares about diet and being thin when you are facing such great food!
Ahhhhhh… THE STAR OF THE DAY! I have been craving for XLB from god-knows-when and I finally got to eat it! YAY!!!!!!!! Delicious, juicy and savory!
YUMMY!
Thank you huka dear for the treat! Hahahahahahahaha… She has been treating us to eat for quite a few times that I feel so proud of my generous cousin yet at the same time, a bit pai seh.

Ahhhh… It’s okay, because dear and I treated back with Cold Rock (@ 313 somerset) icecream that day too, with huka’s favourite honey comb. Heh. Listening and talking until the store closes for the night and we still had not finished our talk, which makes me experience something new through their stories.
We are all so unique and special.
Love dears! Gotta wait for ying’s holidays before we can plan for our next month’s meet up (sleepover, karaoke?). ^-^
By the way, today is the last day of CNY!
~~~元宵节快乐!~~~
Study camp = KPOP Night?! & Steamboat?!
If you really thought that study camp was really about studying only, then you were absolutely wrong. The definition about camps is “bonding”, “crapping”, “slacking” and “burning midnight oil”, so if you really need effective studying… NEVER go to a study camp. Well, unless everyone else in the camp is complete nerds and boring people.
The ugly truth is… YOU WILL NEVER GET TO STUDY AS MUCH.
The beautiful thing is… YOU HAVE FUN WITH AWESOME PEOPLE FOR NIGHTS WITH LOTS OF LAUGHTER AND EXCITEMENT, without any illegal drugs usage nor acts.
Are you organizing a study camp? Look at how Poly Stage Productions’ (Check out my blog post for more information about PSP on WE WON!) committee & seniors made a boring study camp into a KPOP night concert plus Steamboat craze!
Duh. What’s camp without videos, movies, games, cards, supper and being exhausted?
Check out some of the KPOP songs being played during the camp:
- “Wedding Dress” by Taeyang
- “Madonna” by Secret
- “Nu ABO” by f(x)
You name the newest music videos, we have it all on the screen (yup, we have our very own projector that projects videos onto the big screen).
Last but not least, MOVIE MARATHON! Even though “Scooby Doo” is a really quite a boring show because it is just too predictable… movies are still essential in camps!
How could we forget about eating? We are ALWAYS hungry! Especially at night!
Best way to eat ramen? Cook 5 packets of instant noodles in a big fat pot and everyone ATTACKS!!!!! The simply Korean way of eating ramen is super interesting and “bonding”. Hahahaha… Who would have thought that we brought pots to camps just to cook instant noodles in this way!
Last but not least, our main feature of the whole camp — STEAMBOAT!
Awesome right? *grins widely* That is why I love the PSP Committee so much. Heehee. Even though there’s a few hiccups of uninvited guests…
Thank you to the current Committee to organize this camp and invite all the seniors back! Miss ya’ll!!!!!
Live Life! Love Life!
Virgin experience @ Bakerzin
Due to my grumpiness and sour feeling that a few of my friends deserted me on my grand opening + mini birthday celebration last month, two of them dated me out to Bakerzin for a belated meet up which I have been ranting over and over again. Lol. I know I sound creepy and clingy now. Haha. Anyway! All 3 of us ordered the set meal -> Main course + Soup of the day + Drink and thanks to my friend’s voucher, we get to eat one of their side bites.
Frankly speaking, I have never eaten at Bakerzin restaurant before and I only knew about their cakes (people I know usually will buy birthday cakes there) so I was quite amazed when I saw the menu. Pardon me for my “mountain-turtle-ness”.
The environment of Bakerzin @ Northpoint is quite nice, despite the service was not what I expected to be “good”. I guess the trainees need more training. :\ So yup, here comes our dishes! The first dish is usually the superb “Soup of the Day” which I usually love <3, but this time round, this soup taste more like pasta sauce than “soup”. -insert sad face- Not really my type of appetizer so I just skipped to my main course: Ham & Bacon Creamy Pasta (it has a frigging long name that I can’t really remember)!!!
The pasta is quite delicious and absolutely for cheese / creamy sauce lovers! I like how they sprinkle the mini cheese strips onto the pasta and it looks really pretty with the layers of white in my plate. Least to say, it is extremely filling. I can’t even finish up the whole plate, though it might also be because of the overwhelming creaminess that got me to stop.
All three of us were feeling too full to finish up the pizza that we got for our free side bite! I only managed to eat one piece of it and it taste really unique!
My friend said the crust taste like curry puff crust and I agree! It’s like pizza ingredients in a dissected curry puff! :X Not bad as a side, but I am never going to order anything else if I already had my main course! Hahahahaha… But I will definitely order my favorite part of the course – DESSERTTTTTTT next time round!
I won’t mind going back there to try out their desserts and hang around with my friends there. It’s quite a nice place to have mini gatherings. You know, girls have a thing with “high tea time” and Bakerzin is one of the most convenient place for us since it has so many outlets around Singapore.
Ultimate Food Marathon – Yureka Teppanyaki
Last Station: Yureka Teppanyaki
Pops brought the whole family to this hidden Teppanyaki restaurant in Springleaf area (Upper Thomson Road) called Yureka for dinner and the food there is… NICE!
Surprisingly, this Teppanyaki restaurant is not operated by any Japanese nor Chinese, but Malay! I didn’t even noticed before darling even pointed out. Haha. Sorry for the misconception, but usually it’s very rare to see Malays operating a Japanese stall. Alas! Good for Muslims who could get some awesome Halal Japanese food, this restaurant is made right for you.
California Roll
We ordered the Family Feast which is tremendously filling because of all the bombardment of food. Food just came after food… I almost felt that my stomach was going to explode! Especially me & him went directly to my family dinner right after our sumptuous lunch + dessert.
Despite our full stomach, the Teppanyaki is so delicious that we can’t help but to eat a few more mouthful.
Chef cooking
I especially love the Salmon! It’s so soft… that it melts in my mouth immediately. The goodness of the buttery smell and the light sauce. Mmmmmm… Nice. One thing that I am puzzled about this Teppanyaki is… is their secret of nice food = butter + dried garlic slices? From prawns to octopus to chicken meat, I just see the endless addition of butter and garlic slices. Haha. Amazing how they cook almost everything the same way.
Oh, the appearance of this cake is so funny. I actually saw the staff taking out before they surprised me with the birthday song, so yeah… =x
Hahaha… Got to thanks Dad for the treat!
