Plaza Brasserie @ PARKROYAL on Beach Road

[Food Tasting]

Hi guys! Remember when I last went to Park Royal Hotel for Plaza Brasserie’s buffet and blogged about a personal celebration 2 years ago?

This year, thanks to a kind invitation, I am back for a bloggers’ food tasting at the exact restaurant with the equally good quality of food as 2 years ago. Gotta love the experience again!

One of the perks of eating buffet at Plaza Brasserie, in my opinion, is their variety of seafood dishes. With popular flavors like salted yolk and black pepper, what could go wrong? *drools*

The amount of salmon that Mag had was really amazing. The chef is extremely generous to provide a mountain (literally) of it and gosh, they are really delicious. Even for someone like me who doesn’t like to eat raw food. Plus, I simply love how they have different types of sushi for me to choose! I ate so much sushi that I almost forgot to eat other food.

As I lost most of the photos (due to my carelessness), Mag has kindly provided some images for me *waves thanks muack muack haha*

You could see how much seafood they have there right? From prawns to fish to clams and et cetra, there is so much to choose from. Considering the price, this buffet is simply the best for seafood lovers. Of course, there are other cuisines like Japanese, Chinese, French and Indian too. Even their prata looks so different, did I mention how I love their pratas?

Chocolate prata for you? :D

Not to forget, they do have a considerable amount of desserts too! Check it out. ;)

Tang’s Hong Kong Gourmet

Is anyone of you a Hong Kong cuisine lover here?

You might want to try out this store called Tang Hong Kong Gourmet (check out their facebook page here) near Tanjong Pagar/Outram Park MRT.

Do take a look at their lunch special promotion for 4 – 6 pax (I have attached the image at the bottom of this post) which only costs $10++ with 6 dishes and 1 soup! It is quite bargain.

For those who find their portions small, fret not. It is how the chef plans them to be so that everyone can eat more variety (zhi char is pretty expensive) of food with the same amount of money. I personally find this really considerate since I always find myself contributing to wastage of food when it comes to zhi char, especially when I get bored of the same taste (in huge portions) easily.

I was pleasantly surprised by how this Melon Duck Soup tastes! The sweetness of the soup and the tender duck meat are balanced and refreshing. I think it is partly because of the melon and the herbs used. One of the best dishes from this food tasting. Moreover, with weather as crazy as this, you might want to drink something mild and less heaty like this.

Ahhhh! Snack-like dishes. My favourite kind of food (I love junk/fried food). Very savory and strong flavored with a bunch of spices (7 different types). It is quite floury though, I cannot really taste the fish meat which is a pity since the seasoning is not bad.

Hmmm… Not much comments for the roast duck since it is not bad yet not exactly fantastic. Wish the meat were cut into a small portions as it might be a little tough on the teeth when consumed. It could be better, if the meat were more tender (I know duck meat is normally hard but I really think it could be better :/).

Oh my. One of the spicy dishes which I don’t mind having. For those who love spicy food like me, try this out. I love the tender fish and refreshing taste of it when it is not completely submerged into the spiciness but I love the sauce on the fish too. It gives two different layers of tastes, which is not bad.

Super strong flavored dish! I love it! The chef said that he uses virgin coconut oil (which means the taste of the coconut is stronger than what it would be with normal coconut milk) with diluted coconut milk. The ratio of the coconut oil and other spices were 1:5? If I didn’t remember wrongly what the chef said. The taste is so heavenly with thick sauce plus the prawns are just so fresh! <3<3<3

For those who likes oyster sauce, try this out. The mushroom has completely absorbed the oyster sauce and when you mix them with tofu, yummy! A pretty simple dish that reminds me of home-cooked food. :)

Ahhh… I am not a fan of this but the others love it, I do hear that it tastes very original. But I still prefer my pig trotters in dark sauce. Hahaha. :P

Nothing fantastic about the dessert but it was not that bad. I was a bit shocked that the dessert soup was icy cold. Hahaha. It took me by surprise but I was not sure whether the original Hong Kong dessert soup is supposed to be cold or not so I just drank it anyway.
