Movie: Inception (2010)

How long has it been to encounter such an intriguing movie with such genius & creative story-line? Inception (2010) has officially ranked as my number 1 favorite movies-of-all-time.

I know I am slow at catching this awesome show and I am glad I still did before it ends its broadcast in the cinemas. No words can describe how thrilled and intrigued I was during this whole show. My body practically leaned nearer and nearer to the big screen to see carefully what exactly happened. A miss in any of the scenes is a wasted moment in life.

******* Spoilers ahead! ********

How to put this into words… The whole story is beautifully interlaced as a creative concept: Inception in dreams through dreams. Imaginative concept and yet it is logical, interesting and looks do-able. From the protagonist – Cobb‘s struggle within himself and the depressing story with his wife that leads to the dangers within the group’s actions in their projects. The inner struggle which no one understand at all was portrayed so well between Cobb & May relationship. It was creepy, uncomfortable and yet the most important factor of the whole movie.

The story starts with the scene where they are in their dreams inside dreams and how the already-dead May came into the dream through Cobb‘s subconscious and spoils the whole action. Sounds complicated? Yes it is. The complex of creating a dream or be inside of someone else dream is like a big scientific breakthrough! As the story goes on, you will know how these settings are created, through a dream architect, a fact collector, a forger and many many many detailed planning.

The truly awesome part? The journey towards an almost impossible mission – Inception.

From the planning to constructing to the struggle to the trust breakdown and the frustration till the end of true face of inception, it was totally mind-blowing. The relationships between each character is really the key factor of why I love this movie so much too. Simple, yet complex. Almost like an art craft masterpiece that you cannot figure it out despite understanding it (if you understand what I mean).

******* Spoilers ended! ********

As usual, blockbusters – Hollywood stars, best actors & actresses, fantastic visual effects, awesome sound effects, ULTIMATE STORY-LINE. What I can tell you guys is I am very anal about story-lines for movies. I simply love great stories like Inception (2010) that really blew my mind. If not, movie should at least be logically funny and entertaining.

Leonardo Dicaprio, a dazzling Hollywood star of this era. From Titanic (1997) to Catch Me If You Can (2002) and many more classics, his acting career went uphill to another peak due to this awesome movie of the year. Casted as Cobb in Inception (2010), the chemistry between him as the protagonist, the actors and actresses within the story is just tremendously interesting to see. Can’t help but to love his works in these classics, it is truly amazing.

And of course, whoever who wrote this script and the director are truly geniuses. They are the reasons why people are still willing to go to the theaters to watch their craft of art in the big screen. This movie is THE ONE to watch and I can’t imagine there is still anyone who has not even watched yet.

Last but not least, the awesome visual effects! Without it, the story won’t be complete.

LOVE!

It’s my turn to become a Sorcerer!

Synopsis:

Balthazar Blake (NICOLAS CAGE) is a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath (ALFRED MOLINA).  Balthazar can’t do it alone, so he recruits Dave Stutler (JAY BARUCHEL), a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential, as his reluctant protégé.  The sorcerer gives his unwilling accomplice a crash course in the art and science of magic, and together, these unlikely partners work to stop the forces of darkness.  It’ll take all the courage Dave can muster to survive his training, save the city and get the girl as he becomes THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE. The screenplay is by Matt Lopez and Doug Miro & Carlo Bernard from a screen story by Matt Lopez and Larry Konner & Mark Rosenthal.

AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

I have been waiting for this movie to be out ever since I saw its trailer in the theaters, it just gives me the “I-MUST-WATCH-THIS-MOVIE” kind of vibe!

If I were a sorcerer’s apprentice, I would learn all the magic that was imparted to me and make it into good use! Recently, I am also watching an anime called “Fairy Tail” where the wizards take up assignments and earn money. So I would most probably want to become a “freelance sorcerer” and take up jobs that earns money and also swipe out the evil~~

Naive, is it?

But this is what movies are all about, they allow you to sink deeply into another world for 2 whole hours as an escapism from the reality. Still, you can’t help but to think that “this is the coolest job ever!

So come now! And watch the Sorcerer’s Apprentice with me! :D

Fun facts: This movie is is based upon the Disney’s 2D animated featured film of Mickey Mouse called “Fantasia” segment of the same name.

Movie: Prince of Persia: Sands of Time!

Can you believe this? I won free pairs of movie tickets twice within this month to super blockbuster awesome shows! Hahaha! First, Iron Man 2 from Jobstreet Movie Trivia and now, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time from Nuffnang!

Anyway, dar was super excited that day that he can’t stop being cheeky throughout the waiting period, especially when we are hunting for our dinner. As usual, our practice of before watching a movie is to…

BUY LONG JOHN SILVER’S POTATO CRAZE COMBO. The old LJS in Cathay Cineleisure was closed down and in turn, there’s a new LJS On The Go store hidden outside (behind McDonalds).

Yum yum yum! Cheesy potato chips and french fries plus large lemon tea and a fillet sandwich! *wipes off drool* This is totally heavenly combo. Nom nom nom.

(above) That is when we have the tourist syndrome: taking pictures with movie poster!

That’s not all! The most exciting part is to watch this movie! As usual, Hollywood’s standards of visual effects are up to standard (duh, it’s from the producers of Pirates of Caribbean!) and the story line (to me) is quite original, besides the time travel part. I believe there’s a lot of sci-fi movies having time traveling machines in it, like Back to the Future series, but Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is the only movie that I watched (or remember watching) that is completely out of range of the machinery era.

The setting of this movie revolves around the desert, wars, and ancient era whereby everything and any story is involved in myths and legends. I guess this is what makes the movie interesting, especially towards those myths/mystery/legends wannabes. :D

Except the super weird timing of the kiss scene, this movie is just intriguing! Humorous, exciting, engaging and visually interesting! You won’t regret paying $8 for the movie tickets. ^_^

Sidetrack: Is it me or is it Jake Gyllenhaal and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (500 Days of Summer) looks alike? And ZOMG GEMMA ARTERTON IS DAMN PRETTY (she is stunning in Clash of the Titans too)!!!!!!

Love Life! Something good is always happening to you!

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Woohoo! Another blockbuster by Disney is coming up! This is so exciting~! The visual effects look damn awesome (well, of course, it’s the makers of Pirates of the Caribbean!), I am sure that it’s going to be a pleasant enjoyment to my precious eyes when I get to watch it in the cinemas! Heeheehee. The story looks interesting too, though similar storylines have been shown for infinite times in the cinemas. The intriguing part of this movie is: Usually there’s only “time machine” to enable people to travel through time and now what? A dagger that can help you to travel back to time? WOAH.

What if! What if! What if I really have that dagger to go back to time and change something! Woah! The thought of it just makes me excited!

But on second thought, I don’t really want to change anything that is already in the past as I believe that every part of the events that happened in my life trigger me to emerge stronger through experiences, regardless good or bad. *insert serious face* Haha. Anyway, if I could go back to the past, I would totally relive my schooling days again and again and again!

Those awesome days were the best. I know what I am doing and enjoy doing, thus I do well in it. No matter it is my CCA days or my projects-do-like-mad days, the crazy and vibrant bunch of friends around me are the source of all my precious memories that I want to relive with. On the other hand, as much as I do not wish to change anything, I have already changed during this period (even it is as short as a few months only) due to newer experiences, and I would probably do something different in the same situations in the past.

I am not the heroine in movie like Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, I do not have to save the world from tragedies to happen. All I do is just living my life the way I want it to be, control it rather than it control me and I want others to do so too. Too many people live unhappily, without knowing that it is their own thinking -> actions -> habits that becomes their lifestyle, which they might not be even happy about it. Sad to say, not many people are willing to make a change. They do not DARE to dream and take action to change.

Look at the movies industry! For a media enthusiastic like me, I am thrilled to trace through the history till present that this industry evolves so dramatically (well, of course. It’s media eventually) from the boring black & white films that only show trains moving till the present with the “impossible” visual effects elements + mind-blowing scripts + great actors & actresses combination. This is dream and the people in there are the ones that realize it and make it big! Why don’t you take charge of your life today? ;)

If you have that dagger, which point of life will you go to? What will change? What do you want to change?
